LET’S TURN BACK TIME

WE FOUND A WAY: Cher The News is BACK, on Sunday 25th October 2026.

Cher-ventry worked out back in 2025 that WE CAN Turn Back Time [by one hour] thanks to daylight saving hours, and of course… CHER.✨

With Cher The News we will ensure that Cherventrians don’t turn up an hour early for their appointments on Monday whilst transforming the city into a glorious Sunday of music, laughter, and community. Everyone can be a Cher… at least for one day in Coventry.

For Cher The News 2026, which is supported by THE Coventry City Council and THE Arts Council England we are looking for 10-15 Cher-ventrians to be a part of this silly spectacle.

We are looking for people who are up for being silly, people who are up for wearing a wig/headdress, people who are up for trying their best to do a simple routine with our team’s support… knowing that we honestly don’t care if you screw it up as long as you’re giving it every ounce of Cher’s gusto. We are looking for people who think “oh I couldn’t be a Cher” on the 25th Oct 2026… trust us Cher… you can.

Becoming Cher requires:

• Pulling out of your closet whatever black or white garments you got [sequins encouraged] so that our designers can add some Cher “ummph!”

  • You will not be asked for any financial contribution - the wigs/headdresses etc are all on us. Your gusto is on you.

• A rehearsal on the afternoon/evening of Sat 10th October [2pm-6pm]

• A rehearsal on the afternoon/evening of Sat 24th October [4pm-8pm]

• The grand Cher-formance on Sun 25th October : approx 12-5pm [where you, and everyone else, will believe you are Cher - if only for a day]

CHER CAN BE:

Any skin colour, any gender, any sexuality [this isn’t just for the gays - you could ‘even’ be… heterosexual]. Cher can be a wheelchair user, Cher can be deaf, Cher can be any religion and Cher can be an engineer, Cher can be whoever you happen to be. Be Cher for it and we will do our best to support you to sequin sparkle.

Honestly… if you think “that’s ridiculous… I’m in” - you’re our kinda Cher. Don’t overthink it… just be Cher!
